Bringing meaning and intention back to jewelry

Our Story

Cali

My story starts in Cali Colombia. I was born in a beautiful city, where salsa, great food and passionate people can be found in every corner. Santiago de Cali is the most populous city in southwest Colombia. The tropical climate and the happiness of our people make our city a great attraction for local and international tourists. My love for Art starts here, my Passion to create and my desire to be connected with nature, it all started in Cali.

Aruba

My family moved to Aruba when I was just an infant, this paradisiacal island saw me grow. Aruba provided me with great opportunities for my personal development, unforgettable experiences and most of all a beautiful home. The crystal blue beaches, the white sand and the delicious food is just a part of the beauty of this small island. Aruba is where everything came to practice: my love for dance and my passion for artisanship.

The Netherlands

When I turned 19, I moved to the Netherlands to study. I graduated from business administration and I specialized in International business consultancy. The Netherlands is also where my father was born, which makes this country even more special. I had the opportunity to reconnect with my family from this side of the world and meet my father’s culture closely. Moving to the Netherlands has been a beautiful rollercoaster experience. My years in the Netherlands have been the transition of becoming a young adult. I learned to be independent and to work for my dreams.

I love artisanship

I really admire artisans; I love how we can share stories about our culture and our history through our creations. This ancestral knowledge is shared and valued around the world. Every country, every city, every place on earth has the treasure of artisanship. I grew up having a special connection with this artform.

Art in general has been important for me. My greatest passion is dancing, however I also enjoy painting, writing and playing the djembe. I created my first piece of jewelry when I was 13. I made a beautiful necklace from stones and thread, which become popular among my mother’s friends. Since then, I created accessories for myself, for my family and for friends.

During the last year of my bachelor, I thought of many ways of how I could combine my passion for art with my business career. I wanted to create a ‘’something’’ that would give me the opportunity to realize the dreams that I had since I was a kid. To connect with people through art.

The brand was always a desire in my heart, during the last two years it has been shaping, and modifying into SHEWSKA. Meet our brand, this is my way to connect with you, through my handmade accessories, through stories, through culture and art. Thank you for being part of this journey.

What we can do

We embrace raw organic material by elaborating collections with ancestral artisan techniques. This means many of our products are elaborated with techniques that passes from generations to generations. We support local stores by buying from them crystals and gemstones, but we also buy from international organizations that create recycled and ethical material to elaborate artisanship.

Besides maintaining traditional artisanship and cooperating with artisans, we elaborate products that tells stories. We are compromised to provide jewelry with meaning.

Our artisanship varies depending on the social context, landscape, climate and the history of every place where it was inspired. With our designs we tell stories about our world.
